Description:

The Early Childhood Council of Boulder County provides comprehensive quality improvement support to licensed child care programs through the Colorado Shines Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). Support includes on-site coaching and implementation support, technical assistance with Colorado Shines, professional development training and funding for classroom and playground materials that will help address program goals for improvement. The council’s Quality Improvement Program works closely with Boulder County Department of Housing and Human Services (BCDHHS) Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP). Together, the two programs share goals and strategies to increase the number of children from low income families in high quality child care in Boulder County.

The Early Childhood Council of Boulder County, in partnership with the Dodge Family Foundation, also contracts with Kid Connects, a local early childhood mental health consultation program that provides on-site mental health consultation services at child care centers and family child care homes. Kid Connects works with directors, teachers and family child care providers to create socially-emotionally rich environments. Kid Connects will also refer children and families to appropriate supports in the community as needed. On-site early childhood mental health consultation services are a critical component to successfully addressing challenging behaviors in the classroom.
