Tri-County Health Department’s mission is to promote, protect and improve the lifelong health of individuals and communities in Adams, Arapahoe and Douglas Counties through the effective use of data, evidence-based prevention strategies, leadership, advocacy, partnerships and the promotion of health equity.
The programs at TCHD that serve early care and education (ECE) professionals and families with young children are listed below:
• Environmental Health Inspections for ECE sites-Staff conduct regular visits to child care facilities to ensure that health regulations are met and to provide educational information
• Immunization Engagement
• Child Development Engagement
• Family-Friendly Workplace Policies
• Breastfeeding Friendly Environments Engagement-Resources to support child care facilities, primary care providers, and worksites to achieve breastfeeding friendly environments
• Healthy Mealtimes and Physical Activity Engagement- Professional development training sessions and resources to support early care and education staff around healthy meal and play times
• Communicable Disease Education-Accurate health information shared about the transmission and prevention of communicable disease in the child care setting
• Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC-Electronic food benefits and education for qualifying breastfeeding, pregnant and children up to age five
• Tobacco and Nicotine Prevention
• Home Visiting Programs: Nurse Family Partnership/Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs (HCP)
• School Wellness Policy
