Growing Home’s Canopy Temporary Housing program has housed families since 1998. Growing Home relies on the partnerships of nearby faith-based and non-faith-based institutions to provide the physical space from week to week. The program includes a day center for families to utilize during the day. Growing Home’s Canopy program, with a capacity of 14 beds, hosts 3-5 families with children at a time, and families may stay for up to 90 days. During their stay, parents meet regularly with a dedicated Family Support Specialist and develop personal goals including applying for housing and attaining employment. Families attend life skills classes and are invited to enroll in additional Growing Home programs and services. Most families in the Canopy program exit to affordable housing.
