The mission of the Early Childhood Council of La Plata County is to support families by increasing the availability, accessibility, and reliability of affordable high quality comprehensive services for all young children (birth-8) and their families through a coalition of community members and agencies working together to create an early childhood system.
We are a collaborative team of early childhood advocates dedicated to the vision of bringing comprehensive, high-quality services to children and their families. We believe that our future depends on investing in children, for it is in the hands of our children that the communities of tomorrow will be built.
The Early Childhood Council of La Plata County works to establish community wide working partnerships to connect early care & education, health & well-being, and family support services to networks at the state and local levels. To achieve this goal, the Council provides professional workforce development to early childhood professionals in SW Colorado through access to: licensing support, training, scholarships, and career advisement. The Council works to increase the quality and availability of comprehensive early childhood services thought grants and technical assistance for quality ratings and access to developmental & social emotional education through the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants. The Early Childhood Council of La Plata County is committed educating parents and community about the importance of the early years through Child Care Resource and Referral Services in collaboration with Colorado Office of Early Childhood.
